Hey Family,
I have a weird one, I have a 74 vw super 1600 DP and I've been chasing down a timing issue, sputters, and when the engine is running this water comes bubbling out.
WTH!
It only appears when it's running, I thought it might be dripping from the carb and landing down there but it seems to be bubbling up?

Have you done an oil change? It's possible you got some water in the oil via the oil cap. If you pop off the cap, there might be some yellow foam/goo. _________________ 71' Super Convertible (Orange)

Blown head gasket.
That part of the engine sits below the fresh air intake grilles in the deck lid. when it rains, water runs down the back of the car & some of it flows through those vents. When you start the car, the fan forces air through the cylinders under those tins. There should not be a lot of water coming from there, if it does, this could suggest that it is pooling on top of rodent nesting on top of those cylinders. This will also block the air that cools the engine.
Unless it bubbling out of the block itself.
1)there should not be any porosity or hole in the block at that spot.
2)there should not be any water in the block. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Tiny leak in the heat riser pipe?, could be condensation.
Does it only do it just after a cold start?, or even after running an hour? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

This was a quick stroll down the road and back, I was checking the timing when I saw it.
I just wanted to warm up the enngine from a cold start. |

Would it cause my engine to misfire having that water hanging around?
It hasn't rained lately, but I did wash the car last weekend. |
