Here's another video on IG of taking off in the car with the TDE pipes, with the phone at ground level behind the car.

It's louder than I thought it would be from that perspective, but not bad at all.
You can read my comments on the post on IG, but I would say the tips made a good improvement in drivability. It revs much more freely on top now, which makes keeping up in traffic and maintaining speed a bit easier. I'd say I picked up maybe 3-4 hp? Down low, it seems to have maybe lost a little torque, which isn't surprising when uncorking the exhaust. But I'm feeling like it's a worthwhile trade. Keep in mind my 36 horse has the WW Okrasa kit on it, so it may have benefited more from opening up the exhaust than a completely stock 36 or maybe even 40 horse. _________________ Vintage Classic Specialist, Orange, CA

Here is my stock 30/36hp engine with TDE's on full trottle on autobahn some years ago.
Measured 120kmh with the GPS later, not so fast on the speedometer.

IMO, they sound pretty good! I find most "performance" exhasts to be far too harsh.

TDE claims 0,5dB higher sound (@ 3000rpms) than original, but it is another sound. _________________ I got a historic car, every scratch got a history...

Got my TDE pipes today and I just wanted to say that my Judson equipped 40hp really likes them. The sound is a good bit deeper, and the old chirp or tweet is now gone but the engine came alive on the top end just at about the shift points. My motor was smooth before adding them but now it's still wanting to pull and accelerate up on top. I'll post pictures as soon as I have a moment to load them. Thanks everyone. |
