So, I went to an Estate sales today. I had come to the last two previous days as well. I came back to pick up and pay for all the things I purchased the day before. Well, I get there, head toward my stuff, and off to the right on the ground were a pair of split windows with the rubbers still attached. Next to them on the ground was a wooden box of pistons and cylinders, then I see lots of trim and stuff, then another box of brake parts, and then another box of interior goodies like not just the shift knob but the whole damn shifter, Side mount antenna and rearview mirror. Yada yada
My mouth got a little dry and my heart went pitter patter. See, I’m OG Karmann Ghia. From back in the 90s. Part time hobbyist only. I never had access to much cool stuff. Except I did have a part-time job while in the Air Force in Colorado at the local the V dub place I worked at the owner had dozens of VW vehicles, one of them a Kubelwagon. Oh, then there was that time while I was istationed in Germany when I saw an ad in the back of a Vdub magazine for 62 crew cab in California. I bought it site unseen. But that’s not the really cool part. A few months later, me and some friends drove down to Heidelberg for a German auto parts meet. I get to one booth, the guy had a stack chest high of NOS doorhandles. So I nonchalantly bought a whole set for my Bus Truck. Then, then there was the time I was on the Autobahn with my 69 Ghia 2.1 L motor. I passed a VW rabbit. He proceeded to draft me.. The hell with that. We were going 100 km/hr and I punched it. By the time I got to 190km/hr (119m/hr) I didn’t see him anymore. Sure, not fast by today’s standards, but that had my heart racing a little bit at the time…
That was a long long time ago. It’s been a long time since I have had a vintage VW. I caught and dang it, I don’t think I can afford one now… Anyway, I will be posting the parts are in the classified.. A package deal for all I have for a running GHIA is encouraged but not expected….

Here’s a pic from his classified ad, of one of the boxes he describes.

Unless he already picked out all the good stuff, I don’t see anything that particularly pertains to split-era in that box.

Here’s the link to that ad:https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2571842

He’s posting the parts on eBay now although the only part so far are the BWA wheels starting at $600 no split parts he talked about in this thread and no split parts in his auctions yet ..

The pistons look like trash, assuming they are 25hp and not 36hp. The pictures are bad, but they look like they are not going to be usable.

His profile says he’s an antiques / picker. He made one post and a couple ads that are now deleted.

Likely a flipper who tried to drum interest, and we’ll never hear from him again.

Yep, still nada. (even the blurry pics don't show anything close to a"Motherload"...or even the "split window horde" those pics are captioned as. Razz
Either needs a better photographer (and/or writer/editor for posts) Question
I concur with azmodela: "His profile says he’s an antiques / picker. He made one post and a couple ads that are now deleted.

I apologize for all the poor pictures and the lack of information. perhaps in the word hoard, was a bit optimistic. Oh when I initially made the posting, it was the day before I was to go on a business trip, I didn’t have much time and it was night, so the pictures came out like crap.

No doubt, I was trying to drum up interest. Since I was going on the trip and I didn’t seem to be receiving any interest on the classifieds I took it down. Most of the items, appear to be from one split window. The Empi sprints on our possibly for a GHIA.

I will be going through and organizing all of this this week. If you do have an interest in something, shoot me a PM. And of course if I don’t receive much interest, I plan on going to the next Pomona with the whole load plus a few vintage Schwinn bike parts. I’ll post more pictures in a couple of days, hopefully a much better quality.

Well those wheels I’ve told you here thru an email in your ad and on eBay that those wheels are NOT empi sprint stars they are BWA wheels and they even are stamped on the rims you can at least change the title of the wheels … you should pull all your eBay ads and really do some serious research on what items you have and what they are worth
