I found these pictures in the gallery showing assembly of the stuff that goes into a door. Can someone suggest the order?

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_search.php...ts=summary

I'm not quite ready yet. Waiting on the outer scraper/trim parts.

That photo sequence is pretty good. Usually I start with the outer scraper and trim piece, followed by the inner scraper, then the wing window. I'll also install the glass run channel (long black u shaped piece). Make sure you use the cloth covered stuff, as the all rubber stuff just makes little balls of rubber and a mess when rolling the glass up and down. Just make sure you are careful installing the clips that hold the trim piece in place, as it's easy to break off the tabs that hold them in place. They need to be in place before you install the glass run channel, as they hold it in place. Make sure you install the black piece that covers the lock assembly.
The glass installs from the bottom of the door opening. I like to leave all of the screws a little loose until I get the glass in and cycled up and down a few times, then I'll tighten them all up. I hope this helps.

Yeah, that is pretty much it. I uploaded those pictures a while ago with the intent of writing up a tutorial. I will probably create a video of some sorts when we start to assemble my Notchback doors. Until then, the pics should help a bit.

Definitely recommend bending your large felts on the glass before you try to install them. This will help your curve:

With the Brazilian outer scrapers:

There are a few photos detailing opening up the outer scraper trim a bit for the large felt clips Bob mentioned above.

OG clips are the best...but they do break.

Also, re-use your original outer scraper trim-to-door clips if you have them.

Lastly, watch the rivets on the outer scraper trim as well. Sometimes these are really long...so watch your glass.

Make sure your door drains are clear of debris.

And really watch those black clips as they are sharp too. I can't tell you how many times I've sliced a thumb on them.
And definitely use the original type 3 triangle shaped outer scraper clips. The bug ones you see, don't fit into the slots in the doors. Sad
For the inner scrapers, use the original type 3 wires, as they're bent to fit into the type 3 doors correctly. I use type 2 rubbers, but cut new slots for the type 3 wires, and trim the rubber to length (at the wing window end).
I hope this helps.

So I just watched the ISP door seal install video. It shows a seal that is already joined into a loop with two seams. The seals I got from ISP have no seams and are not joined. Does that sound right?

It might be correct, as it (the seal) allows for use on multiple year doors. You'll have to super glue the 2 ends together once you have the seal fitted to the door. I only say that, as the seal shown in the video appears to be for a 65 and earlier, and doesn't have the large "check rod" box of rubber surrounding it (61-65 used a small separate seal held on by 2 small tab pins molded to the seal, like a beetle uses). It also doesn't show the white plastic push pins used on the later doors as well.

Thanks Bob!

Next question. I need to remove the wing window from its frame in order to install the new seal. For the life of me I can't see how to do that.

The top pivot appears to be rivetted in place.

It is rivited in place. You can either cut the rivit off, and replace it afterward, or cut the seal at the lower hinge and super glue it back together. Keep in mind that you may need to replace the 2 fiber washers for the upper hinge, as that'll tighten the hinge back up. This a common rattle source of the wing window rattle. Just something to think about.

Thanks! I'll take a look at the rivets. Meanwhile I have the inner and outer scrapers in place.

Now that you have the scrapers in, the wing window is next (once you have it ready to go in).
Take your time and watch carefully that the scraper trim doesn’t get mangled by the wing window going in.
That bracket at the bottom of the wing window seems engineered to scratch or bend scraper trim.

Also try and make extra sure the radii on all of the scraper trim corners lie tight to the inside radii of the window opening corners.
Sometimes the Brazil trims need gently bent/persuaded to fit into the corners tightly.

Yup, exactly 100% correct. If it clears the trim, then it'll try to scratch the paint. I've found tucking it in at an angle, and rolling the wing window up works for me.

I'll admit it. I'm slow. Just ask my wife.

I can't figure out the orientation of the "Channel Guide". It's #63 on the ISP page. I have late doors.

https://vwispwest.com/type3/body/door/late/

I know it goes on the inside and the channel must face forward towards the glass. And the guy who took it off labeled it so I know it's for the drivers side door.

Anybody got a picture of one in situ?

It clips in at the top, and then bolts in at the bottom. You are holding it low, it goes up in there.
