I’ve seen a classified ad that had a pile of them in a photo so they’re not hard to find. _________________ Volkswagen!

Welcome to the future…
Hopefully this is just the result of the pandemic or something but likely not.
These things are going to happen, it’s inevitable.

They may not be hard find now but they will be,same goes with oem cranks, distributors, etc.
VW made around 20 million of the type1 and ppl been destroying parts since the 60s so the oem parts is limited and coming to a end,we older guys may not see it but the younger ones will,so i say if your into VW type1 theres no since in getting rid of the best quality parts ever made, but some do. |

Good thing I stashed "a lifetime's supply" of parts and then got out of it for a while.
Had enough for myself and a few good friends.
I recently sold off a few nice AH / AK dual ports. Still have "a lifetime supply". I don't think I''ll run out of cranks, rods and cases any time soon.
I believe the pragmatic approach is to consider alternative powerplants especially in late Busses. There is plenty of room back there. There is no good reason to flog a 1600 or even a Type 4 in a heavy vehicle.
