I just scored this Notch “Notchstalgic”, and I am looking for more information about it. Does anyone know any history about this car?

Interesting catch, tell us more on where you got it and your plans. Continue as Notchstalgic, update or revert back to spec? _________________ Ossipon

I bought it out of Tucson, was told it came from the Phoenix area. Paint will be clear coated to preserve the Notchstalgic look. _________________ 65 Notch

One thing about it coming out of that area (Phoenix/Tucson) is that it should be very solid without a lot rust. Hopefully it came with some of the interior and glass to put it back together. It being a solid car will make life easier. Nice purchase. Sorry, but I don't know anything about it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

You might try posting pics of it on the Custom VWs of the 80s and 90s Facebook page. |

Thanks, it will be a little while before I get to it. I am working on a body off resto 1974 Acapulco Thing currently. Notchstalgic will be next in line. I have a pending post on the VWs of the 80s page _________________ 65 Notch

Wow, she made it through her Quinceañera at least.
I would get it all up and running and leave the paint for sure. _________________

That raced- a lot. Pinned decklid, Zeus(sp) fittings on the front end. If the FB pages (often occupied by younguns) are a dead end- I'd visit anyone associated with drag racing around Phoenix in the old days. I'd make postcards of that car and send them with a note to any old track managers I could list. _________________

Bill T. from the Let's Talk Dubs podcast is a go-to guy for VW customs and the history of them. He may know a thing or two, especially since it's not to far from Las Vegas where he is based:

Built a tilt front cage for the one piece front end. Just have to glass it in.
