It looks like a photo scarfed from "Birth of the Beetle" showing the Porsche compound during the war and the multitude of versuchtwagen.

It looks like someone sawed the spikes off the banana guards.
After you've smashed your shins on them a few times, you'll understand why.
Getting rid of those pointed guards was probably a request from the service department after complaints from the mechanics!

This is a 1945 Kübel with swiweling hooks! Most of them were built by the British from July 1945 onward. |

Out of the familiy photo album.
Great uncle Fritz and great aunt Mathilde from Karlsruhe.
Fritz was a Corrections Officer, and he is posing in uniform beside his Volkswagen. The picture was taken 1959, he was 64 years old at that time.
Also great aunt Mathilde was an enthusiastic VW driver, as you can see on the last picture. |
