Why is this so hard to find? Which port is the suction from the tank? The one on the bottom, or the one one the top? Yes I know I should have taken a picture, but I didn't. The expensive manual only shows pump lines on cars with generators (old style). Looked on the tube and all I can find are how to replace the pump, but leave out how to put the lines on. Anybody here got a picture? Thanks. |

Top is usually the inlet, but there's so many aftermarket pumps with their own oddball styles it's hard to say without a pic.
You have a 50/50 chance, if it's not making fuel connected one way try the other. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Unless your aftermarket pump has a fuel cutoff valve in it like the original VW pumps did (and I don't know of any that do), you should be able to blow into the inlet and have it exit the other tube, but not the other way around. _________________ '67 bug: seized by the authorities

Well I used the the top port as the inlet. We shall see. I went by the length of the old hoses. I'm use to most fuel pumps using the bottom port as the inlet, or suction. The other way goes against all laws of man and nature. I'll go with it and see what happens. Thanks. |
