The paint on my '52 Standard in Pearl Gray L21 has some really bad spots that I want to start addressing. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience buying "off the shelf" touchup paint in rattle cans? I feel like even a close-ish match would look better than say gray primer spots as I start addressing the bad paint areas. The driver's door for starters, which has a large area with the paint coming right off.
I found this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/353285051407
Anyone have any experience with them or know other sources? Again, I'm looking for something in a rattle can that will look better than gray primer, so my bar is pretty low for now. Thanks!

I have had good luck with TEMPLE PAINTS . they advertise here on the samba.

looks to me like that door is needing more than a touch-up with a rattle can. why not diy de-rust and primer and take to a body shop who can match paint? _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Yeah, it's pretty bad, you may be right. We'll see. First thing is to remove the peeling paint and then get rid of the rust, then I'll go from there. Right now my bar is pretty low, I just want to get it looking better than it does currently.
There are a lot of other similar bad spots on the car, but that door is the worst.
Eventually I'll respray the whole car. _________________ Vintage Classic Specialist, Orange, CA

you should have no issue finding a local autobody jobber that will load paint into a spray can for you. We can get it done here in Houston if you can't. L21 code is readily available
