I currently have an issue where I drive my beetle for about 5 minutes and honestly it drives perfectly. No hesitation, no choking, no nothing. I get the clutch to the grab point and give it gas and it drives like a new car... that is until a few minutes of driving. After those initial 5 minutes, I get the clutch to the grab point and give it gas and it seems like it wants to stall... not too sure what the problem is and I was hoping I could get some insight on what I should do or change...

I changed the carb, but that didn't fix this particular issue even though it did fix others, I also changed the fuel filter because it looked quite old but that wasn't the issue either.

If you need more information to help, let me know please and thank you!

Howdy ... and welcome

More info please and pics of your engine bay !

Distributor type ?
Points or Pertronix ?
Gas line/hose on manifold ?
Tank vented ?
Cut-off solenoid working ?
Choke adjusted & actually opening ?
Coil overheating ?
Fuel pump rod sticking ?

All connections clean & TIGHT ?
These engines do vibrate ALOT.

My problem is mostly the loose nut behind the steering wheel. Lol

Best luck ... stay safe

jinx

Like above, more info is needed. Also, you said you changed the carb. Did you go through all the adjustment procedures one normally does when setting up a new carb?

Like stated above, pictures.

But…..sounds like the choke is closed when started, causing a slightly richer condition, but after the element gets hot (a few minutes) the choke opens up and the intake charge starts to lean out.

On a normal engine this works great, like normal. But on a weak engine or one with weak spark, low compression, or a VACUM LEAK, it will allow odd things to happen.

It really sounds like a vacum leak. Might want to chase that for a bit!
