|
|
Hi,
Iv got some whirring/virbation coming from the front driver side, especially bad when doing right hand turns (putting weight on the front left) like highway ramps, will start vibrating after many many hrs of driving straight, i.e when everything is nice and warm.
I jumped to a conclusion and changed the front axles, with inner and outer cv´s, but this did not do the trick.
Tires are brand new, and have been alligned.
So my thought was that its the wheel bearing, wanting to change both front bearings, and ball joints, while im at it.
So im trying to find what wheelbearing fits on the 95 Eurovan camper, manual trans.
Need both front ones.
Found a number of them :
http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1995/volkswagen/eurovan/driveshaft_-ar-_axle/wheel_bearing_kit.html
Do these fit ?
Any suggestion on which one to get?
Im currently in Norway, my car is in California, so i have no access to it,
does it have an inner and outer bearing, or just the one?
I used to have access to partslink24.com which was great for looking up the car with vin and finding detailed drawings, is there something like it anywhere?
Also looking for a new boot for my lobro inner CV
is this the right one ? :

I also found this bearing, it just says various applications:

thanks

I have a 2002 but I think the chassis and wheel bearings did not change in EV
You need to replace item 8,9 and get a new bolt for the axle (Item 3) to get this done.
You need some good press out tools to get the bearing out of the housing or take it to a machine shop.

you can do this job on the vehicle with a wheel bearing extractor,
it's a hardened threaded rod and cup system.
you still need to remove the axle from the hub/flange
here's a decent DIY thread if you don't want to buy the proper dedicated tool

great, thanks both of you !! very helpful.
I think most autoparts stores in the area will lend me an extractor tool.
As for the bearing itself,
http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1995/volkswagen/eurovan/driveshaft_-ar-_axle/wheel_bearing_kit.html
The bearings on that page all seem to "look right", but i have questions about the quality, id like to find a part as good as or better than OEM, still would like to not throw out any money on "racing parts" either |

You want to research a labor intensive thing like a FWB carefully on brand.
There are a lot of cheap Asian junk bearings out there, and the brand name is not indicative of where they are made.
On our Volvo site, we avoid several brand names based on experience.
OEM VW part online here in the states is 123 USD, for your reference. _________________ .ssS! |

It is technically possible, but quite involved and not worth it. Once you've got it far enough apart to do it, you could just as well replace the bearing. Plus, by the time they're making noise it's too late. |
