i guess in those respects I'm a newcomer. I got my first one in 95 with a blown motor while I was restoring my beetle. I got my current 79 in 97 with abother blown motor that i still own ... jsut took it off the road this year for some major maintenance and wasser conversion .... |

I have owned many VW's, but never a bus until about 5 years ago. Now my wife, kids, and dogs would leave me if I got rid of it! I just sold my '96 Audi A6 today and I am making the bus my daily driver again. I think I saw it smile when I came back home with no Audi today. Well...
Was with grandparents when they bought the Westy (1972). I purchased it from grandfather in 1990 but was already using it on a fairly regular basis given he used another vehicle. Still have the original sales/loan documents for it and maintenance documentation my grandfather kept dating back to the early 80s. _________________ 1972 Westy Hardtop/Type-4 2056cc

I owned my '80 Chevy VAN in '83 for about six months. I have owned my current '72 bus for 14 years, my '78 Westy for about 10 years and my SC for about 11. |

Manfred is a Legend!
Hopefully next summer we’ll get him to join us for 4CORE again. Since it was only Bubba and I this year, we’re taking the same path next summer. I believe we’re gonna have a new flock from the Midwest joining. They have made it out to a bunch of VW events in the last 2 years and are awesome peeps! They definitely need to meet the OG, who is Manfred!
Owned my current bus since 2018, rebuilt it and got it on the road in 2019. Bought my first bus in 1995, I have owned 5 since then and 1 beetle. I’m not OG like Manfred, but I’m in the game! _________________ __________

If I owned a "Van" I'd tell you. But there is a VW Bus I own That I've had about 20 years though. It's often mistaken for one of those van things. |

I'll do my best to make 4core. I really, really have enjoyed the meet-ups and have great memories. I've got family responsibilities with an elderly parent ( who is doing better..thus the ray of hope) and a fully disabled partner. Now..why are my brake lights not working??? Thanks red-neck neighbor ( "hey hippy, no brake lights"). After I sold my 64 Split to finish school I told myself "I'm NOT selling the next one I get, ever". I always assumed the operational limits of a vehicle at 500K miles or so. Not true for a Bus ( or Van as the thread suggests ). _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

never liked vw’s until 1975 when i met my wife (now ex) who drove a ‘65 karmann ghia. was an immediate convert. in fact, other than buses, the only other vw i’ve owned was a ‘66 ragtop ghia.
we bought our first bus, a 1963 27-window delux micro. i installed a z-bed, and we used it as a camper.
second bus was in 1980; a ‘68 westfalia weekender.
after the divorce i bought a ‘71 bus as a work vehicle (unlicensed handyman) in 1987.
current 1978 champagne edition westfalia was purchased from the second owner in 1991. it had 120k miles. about to hit 400k soon. _________________ 1978 Champaign Edition 2 Westfalia

I owned a Ford van from 2007 until 2021 and used it to bring home my Westy.
More importantly, I've owned 2 VW Buses. I bought my 73 Panel in 1989 for $1800 and had it until 1992.
Bought my current 76 Westy for $2000 in June 2017 and got her back on the road in 2020.
