we removed a dent with heat and some convincing. Rust repair on the doors is next
And here is the body upside down, small condo areas are next after all rust repair is complete

Almost ready for primer
Didn't have much luck finding replacement metal for under the dash,
Corey made some patch panels.

Finally got a chance to work on the un-baja-ing project.
Got the bug all in primer and worked out a few more bodywork issues.

We used an air sander to sand down super high spots, now we are leveling them with sanding blocks. |

Thanks guys. This has been a fun learning process and it will be fun to drive eventually. Thanks for following along.
My buddy actually bought this for a total of $300 a couple dozen years ago as a Baja, so its fun to bring it back to life, and its always awesome to get a free bug. |

I'm a school teacher, so that job thing was really cramping my style, but now that the school year is over I finally had some time to do more work to the bug.

got everything in primer. Paint has arrived, needs a little more touchups and some sanding. Don't just too hard, this is our first time.

Coreys metal work turned out really well, especially for this being a guniea pig.
I thought they made every panel for a bug, but we were very mistaken. Some panels were made by hand. It may not be perfect, but it is a great learning experience and it's 100% rust free. |

No, you and the previous guy are both wrong.
I've fit the body on the pan and it looks fine.
Stick to looking at cars you enjoy. |

Got some color and clear coat on the fenders and deck lid.
Hood, doors and body will get paint shortly.
clear coat needs to be wet sanded and buffed still.
(reminder: this is our first time painting a car. Obviously there are flaws, but it will be better than it was.

Freaking awesome!! What a huge amount of work you have done! Incredible!
I have a suspicion that might be the same color as I just painted my 61 - L231 Iceland Green? _________________ '85 Vanagon GL, weekender package, 1.9 wbx named Freddie/ '61 Beetle named Ringo/ '78 Dodge Monaco which is nothing like the Bluesmobile so please don't cast that oily rag upon it. |
