Hi all. Trying to find both an oil temp gauge and head temp gauge for my 76 Bus Westy. Found some old stuff on Ebay, nothing on here. Looking on the various VW classic stores but not much luck. Can anyone suggest the place to buy these two items together. Thanks. |

vdo oil temp gauges are widely availed new, as are dipstick senders. last time i checked taco plate senders were nla new. be aware that there are different temperature ranges available on the gauges.
most folks get their cht set ups at dakota digital.
you might want to check out ratwell’s essay on gauges:

What Tom said. Also it depends on what style you want. Many of the buses you see have the older black analog VDO Cockpit series in them, and some of the gauges and senders for them in that style can have limited availability. They seem to go NLA then appear again then go NLA again. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Go to the VDO web site. Find the cockpit style in 2 1/8 diameter. Find the part numbers for the gauges and senders plus the mounting brackets. Then use google to search for those numbers _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

This company should have what you need, they make their own TCs, they have digital gages. They have all types of temp sending/monitoring equipment, put a CHT with an alarm in a bus last year

VDO no longer makes a CHT gauge. If you want VDO the only option is NOS or used. _________________ SL |

I only installed a CHT once. I have however installed a lot of
1) in dash tachs
2) oil temp gauges
3) oil pressure gauges
4) voltmeters
I like the VDO safety mounts for the cockpit series. I like the in dash tachs that fit where the original clock would have gone. I’ve found Just Kampers to be a great source for the tach _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

I heartily second Sensor Connection. We use them to build our test rigs at work and nothing but great results. |
