I just loaded this screen-shot photo to my gallery. Many interesting foreign cars parked around the oval-window Beetle. Movie "The Killers" (1964) starring Lee Marvin, seen in center. Filming locations are in southern California, which was an excellent market for lesser car brands in the late 1950's thru the 1960's.

metallic blue centre car is a maserati 3500 vignale spyder (not bmw)
looks like that's a hillman minx convertible (to marvin's left) a bit out of its league amongst the exotics
and I'm going for fiat 1200/1500 pininfarina spider in front of the truck

See, that's the trouble with cars back then - they all look alike! _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

ha,ha! but there is something to that. I think some of the italian stylists had a signature look that they used across several marques. for example farina and his clean look seen on anything from an austin a40, peugeot 404, lancia florida coupe, ferrari 250gt and the fiat above. michelotti was another. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

I concur. I'm presently lusting after a Triumph Italia that Michelotti rolled all the beautiful cars of the generation into. _________________ 58Euro 23 343208 The Ultimate Zimblewinder Machine.

finster, good work on identifying the imported cars in my "The Killers" shot above. I'll leave the last car- parked on street behind the black Caddy- to others since it's a relatively common small car.
KTPhil- Fiberfab Amante GT kit car based on Beetle chassis. The VW hi-po pioneers Ken and Dean Lowry used its sleek body shape to build a Bonneville speed record car, the "Tera-Soar" in their shop "Deano Dyno-Soars" aka DDS. |

looks like the amante had a troubled history, perhaps not a fiberfab after all, only 150 thought to be made

^ Amante: Ah yes, Voegele... that's why that name is on the side of the car... I saw it but it didn't click in my decaying long-term memory.
I don't know how that last name would be pronounced in English; likely VO-jeel. It's a German endearment word for "little bird" (based on Vogel); would sound like "FAY geh leh" with the "oe" being the substitute for "o umlaut". |

If that was driven in, then I think the brakes failed spectacularly. _________________ Andy
