Beautiful and very impressive work on the header, scotty! Did you research the pipe lengths via basic header theory? Did you do any mock-ups with some easy to bend pipes such as corrugated plastic, to see how you can bend and shape the system in the small space between back of engine and the apron?

I did not research pipe lengths. I used all pre bent pieces I bought. I don’t have a bender. I wanted a header that fit and came out the original locations.

Scotty, is the peashooter on the right a dummy? If not how is the muffler inlet and outlet routed?

Yes the one on the right is a dummy. Exhaust only comes out the left.

Does anyone have experience of the stainless hi-flo exhaust from CSP - see link

Its basically a stock muffler on steroids.. Works quite alright with more displacement and mild cams.

Hi All

There is a vintage 36/40HP header that was made by Kadron. I ran one on my 1954 bug for years and it was a significant improvement over the stock muffler. It used cast ends for the heat riser and slip joints to allow fitment on a variety of engines. Also used a large flange 2 bolt muffler.

I have one in my basement. PM if curious

Scott

I fitted a stainless steel CSP to my 1200 standard bug a few years ago and I think it's ok but for the money I think I would opt for an abarth instead. The heat riser on the cusp does not seem as effective as stock exhaust to me.
