I am in the process of restoring my early 55 and am at the point where the seat frames are coming apart. Both of my seat backs have been repaired. One looks to be from a later seat and the other looks like it has been moved on one side.

I am looking for replacements as well as pictures and measurements if one of you has a seat frame handy.

This I believe is the correct crossbar but has been repaired so not sure it is in the correct location.

This looks to be off of a later seat.

Mika of Restoration Panels has that original style part. It should be the split tube with a couple bump-outs in it.

Thanks to both of you!

The one thing that is confusing is the bow in both mine and Jimbos. I don't think that the ones Mika sells have a bend.

I reached out to a friend and he said that the bar is straight on his (mid-54).

Yea, looks to have a really slight bend. Maybe wear and tear. Maybe it is the way it came. Wish that I had an answer for you. My other seat back has no cross over bar left, but has the weld remnants still on the side piece, so that placement is correct, for those seats!

Seems like it should be bent to clear a padded seat with no one in it. Right?
