The Samba experts poured over that Ghia on BAT and found very little wrong with it AND you got it for a very good price.
Your wife will be overjoyed with it. |
Thanks! I paid heed to the experts here and on BAT for sure, had been watching for a nice '73 and love a unique/bright color. Funny thing is in my head my max bid was $17k so a couple hundred more and I might have lost this one. Bought a bit too early but who knows if I'll run into another '73 like this between now and July! _________________ 1973 Ghia Ravenna Green |

This is my 1966 (MY1967) type 14 coupe from the Netherlands.
It was sold in 1966 by a VW dealership in San Francisco and came to Europe in the late '90's. It had some restoration work done and has an aftermarket sunroof. Drives great with its 1500cc engine. |

Welcome to The Samba. Very nice picture of a very nice original patina Karmann Ghia. My '58 came from The Bay Area too. |
Thx! I'm here from 2008, and today I saw it's my very first post haha
I try to save all original patina (almost whole body is in original paint) only 3 spots needed to change or repair. Chassis was in worst condition, now is like new (floor panels replaced, painted...). _________________ 1972 T2ab

This is Sparky, my '70 vert. I've had her since '88; I'm the second owner. (In the second photo, that's me on the left on the day I got her. I wasn't old enough to drive yet!). The red '71 coupe was my parents' (I wasn't old enough to drive, then, either. Alas.)

Welcome to TheSamba. I love your Sparky. 70 & 71 are my favorite years for the Karmann Ghia. I like that the tail lights extend the top body line of the rear fender.
A Christmas tree on a Ghia! That's a first for me. What a unique photo - Not to many Karmann Ghia's have brought home the Xmas Tree, especially a large tree! Wonderful memories. Looks like Sparky has held up nicely for a New England Ghia. _________________ Marc

Very, very nice. Great colour scheme; just the right interior, I think.
Strange how just one accessory like the luggage rack can add to an already beautiful car.

I was initially on the fence about the luggage rack but decided to try it out on the car and if my wife didn't like it than it would come off. Besides, I needed to come up with a unique birthday gift for her. Wife made the decision that the rack will be staying on the car although it probably won't ever have any luggage attached to it. _________________ 1969 Karmann Ghia Auto Stick Restoration: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=730829&highlight=

For those who have been following my thread you've seen my Ghia, so thought I would post here as well.
After 5 1/2 years assembling it, mostly on my own, originally tearing it down in 2007, but with EXTREMELY HELPFUL assistance from this forum, and help from local friends, I have spent the last week tightening it up and making test runs. It's been fun! Getting lots of waves and people asking about it....you all know that feeling!
Here's the first pic of me driving it, taken in my friend John's driveway, his 70 Ghia is out of view.
Finally enjoying!
