1973 SB
dual carbs
1600
stock vented heads but the vents are capped off
single cap oil breather
all of the emissions parts have been removed
Greetings,
I have recently removed the stock 2 cap oil breather and replaced it with a single cap breather as per recommendations by fellow Samba members. I have 2 different size washers for the inside. 1 has a 7mm hole in the center and the other is a 12mm hole. They both got mixed up in the cleaning bucket toss.
I do not know which would be the correct one to use for the single cap breather, nor do I understand how breathers work or why it would make a difference in hole size.
Both washers have the same outside diameters.
Any guidance on this is appreciated.

Regardless
Correct or Not
I would used the Bigger Center Hole

Agreed. Keep in mind that you want to pull vacuum thru it, and the larger hole will make that easier. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

That makes sense.
I now have the 12mm washer installed.

There is an open cell foam filter that fits into the spring, too.

It tends to make an old soft/worn cap pop off, so it's often left out.
FWIW, the ISPwest washer drawing shows the larger center hole. |

Yup
I don’t even have washers on my engines
Just the Cell Filter
I like my Cases to Breathe as Much Possible 😁 _________________ 68 T34 1600 Automatic
