The whole family is headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a concert on Wednesday night.
Are there any VW-related shops / sites that you would suggest? _________________ 1978 Super Beetle Convertible (Project)

There aren't any really good ones. The only place I know of that has any aircooled stuff is Lakeview Auto on Wilkinson Blvd., but the last time I was in there is still wasn't very much. Also, if you're going to Alltel Pavilion or whatever they call it now, it's on the absolute opposite side of town. Specialty places like VW stuff are surprisingly rare around here for such a big city. _________________ Greg

Thanks for posting the link hazetuy, he has the inside info!
It is true, there has been a steady decline in aircooled parts/service availability in the Charlotte area and we are trying to change that. Stop by and check us out if you have any extra time - we are right downtown.
Viking Foreign Auto Parts on Central can also surprise you with what is on there somewhat dusty shelves...

A bit south in Rock Hill is A&B imports, used to have a good selection , dwindled a bit and have not been there in a few years. Hopefully those guys are still going strong. Helped me out a good bit when I first got into VW's.
If you are going to the pavillion that is nascar country, might not find that much for the vw unless you want a 900 hp v8. _________________ The memories of a man in his old age, are the deeds of a man in his prime.

crofty - I know, I know we are in the middle of completly redoing the site, including creating a seperate page for our new NEATO chapter - PTO and the CTS4 show. We'll get on it and hope to see you out here for the show!
grifter - the shop address is 1512 Southwood, but give a call before you come over - we are in and out for right now.

What ever you do, don't go to Burlington looking for a VW shop. _________________

A & B Imports is still there, though they may be retiring soon. I remember a shop on Orr Road but I don't remember the name. Is Triple G on Freedom still there? Theres a place on Monroe Road at N Sharon Amity that frequently has some air cooled VW's. The Buggery in Monroe is still there, he's also contemplating retiring though. _________________ 2000 Golf TDi

I think the shop on Orr Rd. is Hildreth's?
I've been past there to board my dog at Granbar kennels, but haven't been in there.
I went past Triple G a few weeks back, it looks like they're still open, but they had cleared out most of the old cars I remember sitting around. _________________ Greg

I have heard that Triple G is closing up shop.
Yes Wayne of "Wayne's BW" is still on NC-49 in Harrisburg.
I'll second the comment about Viking Imports. Talk to Richard. _________________ ~Regina~ |

I've got a "Wayne's BW Parts" calendar magnet here in my office.
I'll third that about Viking Imports.
I went in there one day looking for both early and late Super Beetle strut bump stops, thinking "there's no way they'll have these" .... and yet, they had both in stock. _________________ Scott

So, Charlotte area folks ... does anyone know if Viking Imports moved or are they just ... gone?
I was down on Central over the weekend and the building is gone, and I see that the website is gone as well: http://www.vikingimports.com/default.htm
Say it ain't so. _________________ Scott

Sorry to say they got on offer on the building/corner they couldn't refuse and sold about 2 years ago now. Older generation retired and the younger generation stayed in the area working for other shops and doing well. Miss having them around for sure! _________________ MonkeyNut VW - www.monkeynutvw.com

I figured that was the case.
It sure is a fancy new building built in its place.
Thanks for the reply. _________________ Scott
