Your extended chassis and body create a much more "mature" vehicle appearance than the original Vokaro. Looking forward to progress as you work through the component fitment challenges.

Yeah well.....it is not just little bit longer.....it is a lot lower.
Drop spindles, adjusters, pie cut, relocated Napoleon hats.......and a major body drop
Look at that down hill bar from the torsion tube to where it used to live at.

I did get the 28mm torsion bars set......at least for now.
It is just right..... right now.....I am guessing by the time all is together and settled in that I am going to need an upward adjustment .

Annnnd poof there goes a whole post.
Now to do it again.

Have not had much to me lately....lotsa work and a sickly wife. So most work as been small items.

Got the dial indicator and the degree wheel and found the sync for the distributor drive. Got the drive dog pinned on....which completes my Chevy distributor in a Mazda mod.

Made the throttle linkage and cables up.

In the meantime I have been jumping on the rear trying to settle the new springs. Seems to have worked. I have re-indexed the springs and put in the brake lines and axles.

This thing is more uneven and lopsided that you can see in the pictures.
The wheelbase/chassis/suspension is all in square/alignment. I cut the fender wells to make that happen.
But the rest of the body is up to an inch lopsided. Some of it averaged out.....some of it just had to be lived with.....or hack the whole body up into sections and remake the whole thing.

I have been checking in on your progress every once in a while.

This is going to be a very sexy car, when it's completed.

Just looking at your fabrication on the frame, engine, body, looks like the car is in good hands.

When the time comes. Please post a vid of the engine running. We really wanna hear it running. Wink

Keep up the great work!

Have you put some weight on the rear of the chassis to make sure that the inside of the rear right tire does not touch the right vertical face of your gas tank when the suspension is at full compression? I realize you have IRS so that there is minimal camber change but now is the time to make sure before all is assembled.

Yes.

The gas tank was made in place to fit ..... Mocked up and tacked together.....with no springs or snubbers installed....so on hard bottom.

That is also how the fender wells (cut and flair) were done......along with the ground clearance of the frame and body (roughly 2" at full bottom)

And.....the hoses are all made up and on the remote filter and oil cooler.

Filled with oil and primed up.
Engine spun over after priming and the tdi starter on a type 1 ring on a Mazda flywheel in a Porsche bell housing all worked.

Now that the cooling hoses are newly done it is time to fill with water and check all that for leakes.

I did quickly check the gas tank, but did not hyro it (pressurize and monitor with gauges). I think I will fill it with water and let it sit for a long time.

With the mechanical mostly done I have been on electrical.
The "body" wiring is mostly done. All on toggles in the overhead operating relays.
Wiring the "engine" up now with the modified kit computer (in a box with a disguise.
