As I further dive into my dear bus and try to get things back to stock my latest discovery has shocked and surprised me - the idle mixture/volume screw for the right carb is completely missing. Pic attached for clarity of where it goes, hole at the bottom of the pic. I'm not sure if they are different right from left. I couldn't swap them but it might just be that the threads are a bit buggered.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

It's a testament to the desire of these things to run that I've managed to drive a couple hundred miles, even if it was running at high idle!

Any suggestions on where to find one? I'm striking out in the classifieds, Bus Depot and JBugs.

I would look around under the carb area, that is historically where things like that hide when they fall off.

That said. that carb looks awful. Consider sending both to Tim at Volkzbitz to be rebuilt. He may have the part in a core. Or buy a core and use the part from it.

Yep, definitely not pretty, but it looks better than it did when I pulled it out!

I looked around in there because I can't imagine any vehicle running without that big of a leak, but no luck so far. I'll check out Tim, might be time.

Blah...., those look awful.

X2 on having Tim work his magic on them, it's money well spent.

Judging by the state of the tag on the idle shutoff valve, that carburettor has been set up without a working idle circuit, so the missing screw has little effect.
