From time to time I see a nice VW crusing around and like to snap a picture if I can. I thought it might be fun to have a VW's spotted thread.
1. Take a picture of a VW out on the street. Not shows, or your buddies car, but one you just happen to see.
2. Bonus points will arbitrarily awarded for best cars, or if you get spotted by another member.
I saw this beautiful '67 on my way to work crusing I-215
I'll award myself one bonus point |

As a part time Mennonite I don't carry a phone. I have a difficult enough time keepin' it between the ditches without checkin' my texts every 2 1/2 seconds. Or creating the next generation of YouTube videos as I drive. A man's gotta know his limits and that's one of my limits.
SOooo....
I don't have pics of the '55 Sunroof I recently spotted ln the wild. Abandoned since the 1960s, it still has most of its parts such as its W decklid, four tab and ribbed doors.
Literally in the wilds as in "out in the weeds".
Clearly a '55. Big sunroof, ribbed doors, no semaphores.

The tickets for getting caught using a cellphone while driving here are pretty high not to mention the increase in insurance rates when they find out you had one. All for good reason of course!

Around here it’s ok for a group to share a phone. Question is it ok to post pictures of non running cars? |

As you can clearly see, my passenger took the photo.
You don't need to be actually driving VWs can drive by you, or just be parked. Let's not rabbit hole this one.
That buggy is pretty insane. Not much VW left, but it sure is cool. |

Sure, if you happen to find it by accident. You won't get as many bonus points though |

Might be able to do you one better. I'll be "upstate" towards the end of the week.
Depends on what you mean by "upstate". New Paltz... too far south. Buffalo... to far north.

There's more VW left than what I find in the woods.
It's no wonder restored buses cost north of $50k. Take you $100k worth of bodywork to replace the missing metal.
Buy three $10k rustbuckets to get the top of one, the bottom of another and the middle of one more...

I make non- running VWs by accident. One moment I'm driving, texting with my thumbs and creating the next generation of YouTube videos, the next moment I'm tumbling through the tumbleweeds.
Do I get any bonus points?

Guess I love pissing off the purists.
Solid rear axle with just enough room between the rear tires to see the differential, and a pissed off v8 up front.

Is that, $2.64 for a gallon of gas. If I see under $5, I'm happy |

I went with what is easy and close by home, all within 10 miles but I have an expanded range not counting what folks have hidden away.
The grey colored super is particularly sad and it has not moved in over 20 years. Probably 15 years ago I asked the homeowner and was told it was grandpa’s car. So his car is returning to earth. The other cars are runners for sure. If I spend any time in one area I’ll have the VWs scoped out.
