Front Pads today.
Happily I caught it before any disc damage happened.

I was hearing a very slight "crunch" in the RF on hard stops.
The rivet that holds the tensioning spring was just beginning to rub.

It has been about a year on these pads but the Reading I travel is quite hilly.
August 05, 2021...... I'll need to locate the mieage on that day.

Currently 210,855 miles

These were the same NAPAs I just put in and........
have one more set of on my shelf!

So, every year and a half I'll replace my brakes.
I'll shop for a "better" brand.
But
Sometimes a long pad life equates to severe disc wear.
There is a balance that can be found.

If you recall my Duralast pads only last 4,000 miles so this is a huge improvement!

Pagid and ATE BRAND are 45-60 at FCP. Last ones you have to pay for. 16 k is short but reasonable for town driving with a loaded T3 like your workhorse

I would FreeCP the replacements based on that usage. You can even return the brake fluid you push through the system and the old bleeder valves you replace each time, too.

I balance out the rotor life by getting free replacements on those too.

Last BMW rear brakes was $400 in free parts

my first thought is maybe you have a lazy caliper but both sides are so evenly worn that it is likely just soft pad material. not all bad, less disc wear and possibly better stopping power. and if you're in the caliper frequently, they are easy to take in and out.

Yeah, replacing them is stupid simple, half hour working at a leisurely pace.

Well, my ATF leak from the torque convertor has gotten so bad that I'm trying not to drive it because of the smoke screen billowing out behind me!

I'm hoping to pull the engine in the next few days and renew the TC seal.

NOT looking forward to this task!
It's getting cold and there is rain forecast for almost every day!
Gosh! ........ I miss my garage at the old house sometimes..........

i so love my shop! essentially a single car garage with space for storage on one side and workbenches on the other. low budget but heated and clean. 6" of ice on lakes now and several inches snow. not time to be lying in the driveway under a van now.

Agree
I have a 5 car garage but 1 is dedicated to wrenching
Toasty warm in the winter
The guy across the street from me had, what appeared to be, a "tent" garage set up in d-way to work on his camper
It was heated and ez to break down when not in use

indeed a seasonal use shelter logic tent garage is better than no garage.
Dad had one with a pallet/plywood floor (4x6's where wheels rolled in) and heated it with a salamander and a tank top radiant heater.

high & dry for under $2k.. get many years out of them.

and it might just last longer too

the cost(s) of ownership often run more than the initial purchase price of said horse or spouse

Well folks...... I got my garage set up!

I splurged on a new set of ramps......an absolute luxury and I feel safer under the vehicle. (Yes, the front wheels are chocked)

I've sucked out the coolant and cleaned up a lot of oil mess. This TC seal was getting progressively worse quickly and ATF is EVERYWHERE!

Pulled the radiator plug and sucked out the coolant ......

The antifreeze looked milky which sent me into panic mode but as it sat in the pail, the milky look vanished, it was just whipped by the vacuum I guess? 🤷‍♂️

Tomorrow pull the engine, replace the seal and get that engine back in during what may be one of our last days in the 50's.

Let's see what Gremlins appear to "help" me along! 😂😂

Thanks for the suggestion but no, one of these won't be appearing in my yard.
If I really need to do a task and the weather is horrible, my daughter 20 minutes away has a 2 car garage.
I'd need to remove the racks to get in but it is a valid alternative.
Or
All you kind folk can Venmo me funds to build a proper garage....... Just use my email address...... 😂😂😂💰
Because of zoning I need a variance to build a garage because of setback requirements. I'm pre-existing non conforming with the current zoning. I'm the "poor folk" in an almost million $$ neighborhood single handedly pulling down my neighbors prooerty values! 😂😂

You da man!! I am impressed with your can do attitude. Take lots of pictures so we can share in your joy/misery. I, for one, am anxious to see how this goes. The popcorn maker is ready, Let the show begin.

With the rear hatch up you could always throw a tarp over it and keep most of the rain/snow out. Good luck!
