That is the rear center seat, but without the steel frame to hold it in place. Kind of like having the front upper flip seat, but no flip seat arms.

Below shows seat in the frame under it:

Congratulations, and welcome to the flipseat club. Flipseats are the party model. They even have a cabinet for booze bottles.

What month is it? '61 was the first year, and they only really made them for about half the year. The early ones don't have M-code plates.

Where would the mcode plate be seeing there is no bulkhead?

Here is the birth certificate the previous owner ordered. I confirmed the SN on the bus and it matches so I find it weird that it’s listed as an so23. I did read somewhere else that someone else had the same thing on theirs . Looks like an April build and delivered to Greece

M-code plate (if it has one) will be under the front seat, mounted face up on the passenger side seat stand.

There are other early flipseats with the "23" code, I know of one that is also a 61.

Yeah, they M-coded the early flipseats with a 23 code. Does yours have an M-code plate? (located on the horizontal panel under the front seat)

Yes it is

Nice. I think it was found in Olympia, Wa. ~2005-2010.

Yes I believe your correct. I tried to contact the person that found it but have not received a reply. It has gone through a couple different people since he has owned it. He had it for sale in 2012 when I sold my so23

Did you get the water bottles? When Levi found it all three bottles were there.

That bracket has been cut down quite a bit. Should not be too hard to repair back to original.

Sweet find!

FYI- the FR is for France. GR would be Greece. Either way this bus has seen some miles in Europe which is super cool to think about the sites it has seen.

Absolutely, the birth certificate says Greece as the destination

So it looks like I’m missing from the hinge outward. Is that one you have an extra you might want to sell?
