Hi Guys, this after market light. I see how it clicks in to the roof. If I click on one side, the other side pops out. If I click that side, the other pops out.

Also, the light only comes on with the door open. It did not come on by moving the switch.

Thank you

Try bending the clips wider.

Have you contacted the vendor?

No clips to bend on that style of dome light. These have spring loaded metal bumps on each side that lock the dome light into the hole.

Usually these fit pretty good. Now, that means no one has messed with the opening in the body. Also, if the headliner is padded too much around here it might prevent the light from fully seating.

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox.

Thank you guys. I have an OEM one that is crusty but has a good lens. I may just try to restore it.

I think you need to trim the headliner material on the left and right sides, back to the point where the sheet metal is exposed. that also creates your point of contact for the ground, and allows the clips to grab the roof and lock in. And keep in mind, one end goes in first, then push in the side with the copper ground.

Concerning your question about the light not operating correctly; it looks like your light is wired incorrectly. The tan wire (ground) needs to go to the switched end of the light. The red wire (hot) coming from the fuse block goes to the unstitched end. Power needs to always be available to one end of the bulb. The switched end directs where the light gets its ground. Also, the dome light assembly needs to make contact with ground for the always on function of the light to work.

The light does come on with the door open though- that's great news! Smile
