Well, am I happy to still have my ragtop! I went for a drive, left my house and all was fine . But once I left my neighborhood, my car began to bog. So, I immediately returned home. One of my webers was DUMPING gas all over the left side of the engine. I am very happy that this did not happen when the engine was HOT, or else I think it would have went up in flames.

I pulled it out today, and found a plug on the side of carb is missing.

Anyone know what the deal is with that? Check the pictures below for the plug I'm talking about...

I've had that happen to my IDFs. I was lucky enough to be able to find the plug and re-install it. Take a flat punch and peen them all in better. I smeared a dab of RTV over top of all of them afterwards. You could also use JB Weld.

Ya, I had one back fire and blow the plug out. I always check the crimp on the casting for this reason. You can put a spot of epoxy on them it it makes you sleep better (after peening)

Yes, the carb is an older weber. I brought the carb down to my friends shop. He's seen this problem before and had a good solution. He tapped the hole for a threaded plug from a Solex carb. It sealed it up real good, and I covered the other one up with epoxy to eliminate another problem.

Thank god for good plug wires!
