I would suggest that you look inside the tank. The more brass the better. Stay away from plastic. Also, the higher elongated toilets are more comfortable. |

Get a "comfort" height. _________________ Glenn

We always recommend American Standard or Kohler toilets. They have held up very well for us, and the American Standards come with all the parts you’ll need to install the toilet, except for a new fill line. (Please do not reuse your old one unless it is the all metal pipe type, as the rubber hose ones are prone to failure after they have been installed for a few years and then removed).
As Glenn said, consider a comfort height toilet. The “standard” toilet height is 14”, comfort height is about 15 1/2”. That small difference actually makes a huge difference.
If you want to go as “commercial” as you can in a house, look into a “powerflush” toilet. They have a plastic tank inside the ceramic tank and it holds water under pressure. When you flush the handle, it forcibly discharges water under pressure into the bowl, almost like an actual commercial Zurn toilet. These toilets are very useful for when you have old cast iron drain pipes, and/or level pipes that are prone to clogs. Also good for if those who have kids who like to use one roll per “use”.
Hope this info helps! _________________ 1959 Fjord Blue Volkswagen Beetle

The most important thing is the capacity of the water tank. The bigger the tank the better. Remember the water must move all the solid waste down the sewer pipe. If you have a small tank you will have sewer pipe clogs later as there is not enough water per flush to move the crap down the pipes.
There is nothing wrong with plastic internal parts. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

I like Toto best for the way it flushes. That being said. I’ve had No problems with American standard or Kohler. I’m not sure if this is true today, I’ve found that the specialty plumbing shops have better quality faucets and toilets. Usually a tad more expensive too. For something that gets used everyday. I’m ok with paying extra. I’m sure many people have toilets from HD and Lowe’s that work just fine.
You probably know this. A quiet close toilet seat is a game changer. If not. Look into it. _________________ Keep on Busin'

go to a plumbing supply not home depot or lowes. You'll pay about the same but get better quality with metal parts instead of plastic |

American Standard and Kohler have negotiated with Home Depot to not stock Toto in their stores. They are available online at HD though. |
Are they still holding the line?
