Anyone have feedback as to whether or not the Launch scanners can provide data on an all network scan to see if there are any module failures?

what are we working on? I have a few Launch scanners as well as others. Some out perform others, some fill holes that are left by the other guy.

there is no 1 size fits all scanner, and nothing beats OEM but some will do a lot more than you think, while others won't even pull a code from a ECM

2002 Honda Pilot

I have a handheld Innova that does the full network scan and can tell me if there are module failures but... the graphing function is a joke. I was looking for something with a larger screen that does graphing BUT still does that scan. I was hoping the Launch does both. The launch is supposed to graph up to 4 things at once so I can monitor fuel trims while looking at sensors. Like you said, trying to get the best of both worlds.

I have a p0174 code so I am using live data to check the cat and o2 and maf, etc. Got a smoke machine already to check for intake or exhaust leaks. That is a cool machine.

This is not for work or anything. Just enjoying the challenge of learning something new.

the Launch should be able to do that. one of my launch's is a crp-123 and i consider it my "parking lot" scanner as it's small and fast

that one will monitor a bunch of parameters but I like my Autel much better.

Small and fast is good. Thanks for the feedback. Is it the base CRP123 or is it and E or I , etc?

Does your CRP really not work on 1996-2008 Japanese cars? Is see where the new 2022 CRP123x may not. I also have a 96 Miata I would like to use it for.

What Autel do you have and what do you like about it?

thx

i think mine was billed as the "pro" as it did abs/srs/epb but they may have changed the name

autel? I have a IM608 but it may be more than you need. The ultra is pretty nice too but may be too much overkill for your needs

my launch will do 99 up, i can't speak to anything older as all of that stuff has been long gone around here for 10 years or so. i can't imagine it wouldn't work. launch is a pretty solid company but with them and autel look out for clones because if they catch you with a clone and you try to update it, it will brick.

find an authorized dealer

Thanks for your time Skills. I went ahead and ordered the best crp123 model I could find. The Autels are indeed, a sledgehammer in my ball-peen application but they did look niiiiiiiice......

I tested out the unit. The fuel trims were wrong. Weird...
Both LTFS and STFT were all around 1 or so in live data. My regular scanner is measuring them way higher and so is the car, hence the codes. Also, it didn't have the option to graph fuel trims in live data and the report it generates does not include the freeze frame data from when the code was triggered. I don't think I am going to stick with it. I liked the email-the-report function and it is small and sturdy and fast, which is nice.

I also got an OBDLINK to use with my laptop. That one seems ok but... its tied to my laptop so its portable but not small. I think I am going to keep this one.

Thanks for the feedback though man... much appreciated.

how were you measuring LT/ST trims?

engine needs to be good and warm to do get an accurate reading. like checking when you first start is a no no

anyway, like I said it's my 'parking lot' go to just for it's size. sorry it didn't work for what you wanted

No worries... I appreciated the feedback.

Yes, closed loop. I literally used it and saw the readings then unplugged it and tried my old one (which works fine, its just does not have many features). Weird bc they were not only inaccurate but not an option to add to a graph, like many other sensors were highlighted as being able to do so. Anyway, OBDWIZ on the laptop for now.
