Question

Longshot... But does anyone have a picture of a <53 trim as I believe they may be different (as always) with no screw holes and possibly 145mm shorter.

Its just to hold the carpet down Rob, as its pretty thick stuff (carpet). I got mine from Woolies the trimming suppliers in the UK... I'm not sure if there are any length changes.

I can't remember how close it was in size or the size??, but i think it was very close.
Rockstock may have the details, as i got him and Trevor some. You obviously have to put the holes in yourself...

1/2" is correct. Nice! Finally a cheap barndoor part. Surprised Laughing

Like I said, it looks like pre53 didn't have holes drilled. So hopefully it has a runner to fit some clips, or I suppose I could weld on some bolts.

It doesn't have a runner, its just solid aluminium. On my 55 it is just screwed on, the holes were already there, not ideal in my opinion as the ends of the screws show in the engine bay.
Any other Deluxe owners have the original in place??

Would I be right in thinking 49 is referring to the grub screw that attaches the trim?
Described as "Pointed grub screw M 4 x 6 DIN 553"
It appears to be mounting from the rear?

Please post up any pics of original trims.

No, that grub screw grips the luggage bar through the middle luggage bar upright

From John Jones (& the 1954 Tom Tom DLX) via Simon:
Forward Carpet Trim is 1540mm long
Screw holes are approx 180mm apart, countersunk
Screw spec unknown

Instructions for fitting your Woolies trim:
Cut to required length
Mark where holes will be (use the existing holes in your firewall)
Use a small flat file to flatten profile where holes are to be drilled
Punch a hole
Drill
Drill to countersink

Maybe early deluxes did not have the trim. This would explain the lack of holes in your firewall, & perhaps the relatively crude self-tapper screw attachment method

It's probably to keep the corner drop & vertical part of the carpet taught

I thought I'd update this thread as I found it helpful while figuring out this piece of trim. To answer Lowdown's question eight years later, I believe a '52 would take it. The '52 I'm working on had the holes in the engine wall, but we didn't have the piece of trim. I had a friend measure his original, which he said was between 1/4" and 3/8" (8mm maybe?). I used a piece of 3/8".

Good info, Thanks Guys!

The document says DIN7511 B3.5x20mm. screw.

I do not get the information of DIN7511.
The screw which DIN95 resembled. Head diameter(dk) is about 6.5mm.

I think old-model DIN7511 probably to have a small diameter.

When measure it in a photograph, the width of trim is about 8.4mm?

"14points : x = 10points : 6mm"
"x=8.4?"

My 54Samba does not have Ttrim.
In Fire wall nine holes. (screw ten?? By the document.)

I intend to cut aluminiumu round rod to half.
Is it rod of 9mm in diameter?
