Both of my Wolfsburg buses have 5? drain holes in the front cab floor, drilled in a line across the forward edge, before the floor angles up. They have rubber plugs on one bus, similar to those at the forward edge of the cargo floor. One bus is April 55 and the other is June 55. I am too lazy to see if its mentioned already but I didnt recall seeing it. I have had 3 other wolfsburg buses betweem 10/55 and 4/56 and i dont recall if they had it but I think I would have remembered. Perhaps an early wolfsburg item? |

I haven't seen an exact date and couldn't find it listed in Progressive Refinements.
I've seen people say it's all Wolfsburg Buses, which would be until early March, 1956 but I see a couple people in this thread that had original April Buses with the long rib front bumper.
If you search on bumper in this thread you can find a bunch of random posts of Buses with the VIN #s listed.

Has nobody else got these drain holes in the front cab floor? They sure look factory. |

My bus is stored away off site for the winter. I can get pics later. They are the same or similar to the plugs used on the leading edge of the cargo floor |

my 1/56 deluxe came with the speedo in the early green and lighter brown face but came with no clock...anyone have a bus with the original clock and early colored speedo that can verify wether they match or if the clock has the later paint scheme. |
The "green face" is from the dial being sunfaded. The early inks fade differently than the later ones. If you dissasemble it and look at the edges hidden away they will match the later speedos. I haven't ran into too many green speedos in the Pacific NorthWest.....guess then only come from sunny places like California. |
Is this still the consensus? I see quite a few restored greenfaced speedos in the classifieds. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Not sure I have noticed this before. Working on a '56 Wolfsburg Bus, window latches, it has stainless outers, that are pressed around cast center. A Wolfsburg thing?

Stainless on right:

Went thru that on the March of 55....every and I mean every stainless that I have or have found are broken. Wolfsburg thing....can't answer that to any degree of certainty. _________________ Transporter Restorations
