if it is indeed a Lukey quad tip early system, it is very far from home
But I would suggest it's something different.

Given the second set of bumper guards, I would suspect the owner was pretty creative and modified the muffler himself. _________________ Chris

I think the people are sitting on the seats from the car aren't they? _________________ "Someday the world is gonna be populated by nothing but Volkswagens'" Corporal Klairvoy |

I've noticed this is a pretty normal thing in vintage Split/Oval Bug photos.
They go on a picnic and pull the seats to sit on outside. _________________ How to Post Photos

What’s interesting to me is how they took the seats out to use them as chairs/benches. _________________ 1959 Fjord Blue Volkswagen Beetle

In relation to the comments about them sitting on the vehicles seats outside the car.
I came across this early publication regarding the topic

the original beetle was quite practical. my 59 beetle held a lot of cases of beer. fold down the rear backrest and load her up. 10 cases of 20 half liter glass bottles, no problem. drives like a rolls with that weight. sure, the bus holds more, but a beetle can hang with a standard car. _________________ regards

The rails are greased, I would fear mud on them after placing them outside on the soil causing sticky seats when sliding them back in the rails. |
