A couple of weeks ago I had an interesting compliment on our 76 Westy we are restoring. A guy I would say in his early 30’s came up to me at the gas station and said “ WOW, what a neat new camper! What company makes these!”. Oh dear. Bob

Had a guy see me putting gas in the front of the beetle, hood up. Came over with a very puzzled look on his face, and was stunned to find out the engine is in the rear of the car.

Should have told him the gas goes directly in the engine just like the oil. Laughing

When my dad had a '63 Panel, he drove it to pick up some tires and the guy he was buying them from said "Neat van, what is it? A Dodge?"
Was the enormous VW emblem not an indication? Laughing

Would you know a REO Speedwagon if you saw one in 1976?

Depends on whether or not the owner was gonna take it on the run.

A couple years back in a parking lot in our home town a 10ish year old boy looked at our Manx copy and asked his late 30's Mom. "What kind of car is that?"

"Oh, that's one of those new side by sides."
