At a dealership in Texas, I was a young, ex USAF, employee, who was offered by the owner, a 1947 split. I passed on this split because I thought the $4700 was too much for such a vehicle. Anyway if you know about this 47 please give me a shout. I will say this, it was sold to a PASTOR who collected VWs and it was 98-99% complete. I have alot more info on this but unless you know or have some knowledge of it, privacy reasons persist. |

So, if I'm reading this correctly, it seems that you want from others, the history of a car since 1977, but not prepared to share any information you may already possess. Doesn't sound like much of a proposition to me. |

No wonder you past, $4700 is a lot of money in 1977, especially for something that was still considered scrap at the time by most. For a perspective, I picked up my ‘50 in 1988 for $2000, and my father thought I got taken.
I’m going to back Martin on this, and you don’t have to be rude about it. _________________ Type 1

I in NO WAY asked for a history of this car dating back to 1977 . Thats what is wrong here. Runkle.......You responded with a correct answer......I passed on it because $4700 WAS alot of money. |

Wow! A 1947! Someone's gotta know what became of the car. Can't be too many of them around. _________________ My Beetles :

you say you have more info . if you have the chassis number you can
look in the samba archives in the split window registry. there are 53
there . 23 in USA . one is in Texas.
that was 45- 46 years ago it could be
anywhere by now. maybe the current owner trolls around here and will
respond. better odds than playing the lottery perhaps. if you find it report back.
