Which distributor have you used there? Any modifications to it?
Cheers. Dave (not the lucky Dave who owns this engine though….)

Those are porsche 356 preA heads " 1948-1955 356 preA heads " those heads have the same vw 36hp head stud pattern ..so they will bolt right up to the 36hp case ...the later 1955-65 porsche 356/912 heads have a wider head studs pattern and because of that those later 1955-1965 heads won't fit only preA 356 heads will work with the 36hp case . the only way to make the later 356 heads fit with the 36hp case is if you relocate the 36hp head stud pattern on the case .. to the later 356/912 head stud pattern ...it wouldn't be that hard to do if you can make a magnesium plug to plug up the 36hp head stud holes and than weld the outside of the plug and inside the case basically sandwiching the threaded plug than redrill the case to the later 356/912 head pattern and bore the case for the bigger stock 82.5/83mm cylinders can go even up to 90.5 mm pistons with the later 356/912 pattern/heads ....I've heard a guy used jb weld to plug up his 36hp case and drilled the 356/ 912 pattern much faster to do it that way ...than a plug and welding the magnesium case ..but I think the welding/plug way is much better / stronger than jb weld but to all reach its own ...

In the very first photo, the engine in the foreground is a Pre-A 356 engine and it does have 356 heads.
