Will a 56-64 interior door release work in a 66?

I recently took ownership of a sweet 1966 Java Green bug. Going through the little issues it has, and the drivers inside door release spring return is broken. I’ve searched high and low but haven’t found one available in the aftermarket. But I have found some for 1956-1964 and they look similar. Does anyone know if that will work?

Any advice is appreciated. I did find an original on eBay but I’m concerned about the spring being fatigued or broken.

Not familiar with the 66 but isn't the same as 68 & up? If it is then is this what you are looking for?

Thank you all. I missed this before. I bought one that did not match and modified it to work but I would love to get a spring for mine and rebuild it.
