Hi all! I figured I'd make a post about my Westy as in looking at possibly selling it, and wanted some info to make sure I have the right details before doing so.
I had made a reddit post, so this will be a direct copy of that. I don't have any good photos of the sweet girl on hand but I'll get some soon.
For starters, she is an extremely early 68 (Sept 13 of 1967) Westfalia. The M-Plate even has "Remarks: Westfalia" and "M 517: Factory Prepared for Campmobile Interior" on it.
Her interior consists of a folding bed marked SO-60 which I can barely find info on, the behind-driver seat, table, what appears to have been the icebox/ sink behind passenger side at one point (missing, small hole in floor where it should be), childrens cot up front, a closet, Jalousie windows, no headache cabinet, black/white striped curtains, walk-thru, and twin fold-out cots up top. She has a Dormobile top.
From what I can tell, this Dormobile top is original. This bus is a strong project, and has sat since the early 90s. I strongly believe this top and related parts to be original, as they're quite worn and seem professionally and not-at-all-recently installed, and she even has her red and white striped Dormobile top material, and special cot material.
She has date coded 67 wheels all the way around, factory Pearl White paint, came with a BN4 Eberspacher (missing sadly, as is the engine, transmission, and title...), and still has her underbelly pans with perfect floors other than the front which need replaced.
From what I can find, Westfalia DID offer Dormobile tops for 68-70(?) after Dormobile was unable to import their own. I remember specifically reading that they couldn't import theirs as their cuts for the roof were too far forwards, something about structural integrity.
Does anyone know how I can tell that this is a factory Dormobile topped Westfalia? Did they really offer Dormobile tops? I'm looking to maybe trade it so I want to be sure I have all the info for any sales inquiries. I'm in the PNW if that matters. Thanks! _________________ '71 Shantung Yellow AT/FI Squareback |

Thank you both very very much. That helps clear up a lot for me. I'll try to post some photos today as well when I'm free. She does indeed have the M191 and still retains the pans. _________________ '71 Shantung Yellow AT/FI Squareback |

Here is a video of the bus when I originally got it home and cleaned it up (she was filthy filthy filthy when I bought her.) _________________ '71 Shantung Yellow AT/FI Squareback |

I would go over to vw-mplate.com and get your M-Plate decoded.
This will give you what it was originally specced with and where it came into the country.
