Was able to buy a 1950 poster from Frankfurt VW dealer “Glöckler” showing all local sign-written barndoor transporters. It measures 40x60cm.
Had it professionaly framed with special UV resistant glass.
Enjoy.

Wow, fabulous!
The Singer Bus is neat, is looks like VW brochure artwork instead of a real Bus |
Thanks Everett.
The Singer bus is artwork and not an actual bus. But still cool indeed! |

I was going through the paperwork that came with my '67 bug, and I came across this interesting document- "Marine Damage Survey Report":
I noticed that it listed the name of the ship that transported the car to the US, so I did a quick Google search, and found these two photos of it with a shipment of new 1967 VWs on the dock:
Anyway, did anyone else's VW come with a page like this? I can't find any other information about it, and I'm a bit confused as to how it ended up staying with the car, especially since it doesn't actually have anything written on it. |

Found some more misc. papers I didn't see anywhere in the Samba archives, so I figured I would post them here:

Posting some documentation and service receipts that came with our 1970 yukon yellow tourist delivery beetle. Car was picked up in Luxemburg on 9/10/1970.
Tourist Order/Bill of Sale:
Statement of Origin:
Martin Losch (Dealer) letter:
Volkswagen Insurance Service (folded brochure):
Service Records (folded):
Service Records (unfolded):
This was 1 sheet of paper but too wide to scan in one shot. Notice the little compression card stapled to the order.
Diagnostic Coupons:
The 30k service coupon shows through the cutout in front cover, so my parents must have stopped going to the dealer by that time.
Here is a picture of my mother with the car on 3rd day of our trip. Eventually we got down to one suitcase on the roof rack and one in luggage area behind the rear seat.
Another picture from the family photo album with my brother and I on beach in Barcelona. I still have the international tourist plate hanging in my office.

This a great document, and no, it would never have stayed with the car. It's also a mystery that it wasn't filled out, unless there was a document filled out by the port authority that supplemented it.
I once bought an original paint '64 from the original owners (those were the days), and I noticed the roof was repainted, because it had lost its shine. When I asked the owners why it was resprayed, they said they never had it painted, so I surmised it must have been damaged in transit, fixed by the dealer, and sold "in first-class saleable condition" with no mention of the repairs. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Interesting, thanks for the information! According to some family members who knew the original owner, this Bug was apparently the very first car sold at this particular dealership, so I suppose it's possible they hadn't gotten that kind of thing worked out yet... |

What dealership? That seems strange for 1967 but if it was a new dealership for 1967, then ok.
I'm not saying they are wrong but I'd be skeptical only because it's weird how many times I've heard someone say that or something similar like "The first car sold in Washington" or "The first car sold in the USA" _________________ How to Post Photos

Hilltop Volkswagen, Virginia Beach, VA. The owner's manual says the car was delivered in May 67, and if I'm reading the dealer listings in the Samba archives correctly, the first time it shows up is November 67.
Also, this might be off-topic, but this isn't the only dealer-related oddity I've noticed. According to everything I've seen, the "correct" radio in '67 was a Sapphire V, but mine actually came with a III instead, with a factory-appearing voltage drop mounted on the back to work with the 12V system. |

Cool, makes sense.
Maybe a discounted radio bought later?
I've owned a 6v Sapphire that had a 12v converter on the back too, it looked original. _________________ How to Post Photos

Bought this small “poster” from MAHAG. Measures 12 x 19 cm
It was on the back of a receipt from a hotel. The receipt was dated July 1952.

Scored these from a local used bookstore today. Neat stuff in these Weathervanes, had never heard of them before.

Nice find, those look mint.
The Weathervanes are cool and have a lot of little interesting facts in them.
I have a small stack and used them to do a lot of the "VW Facts" for the Home Page here and get a lot of little dealer pics for the dealer pages. _________________ How to Post Photos
