(67 has the same base, but the mirror itself is oval shaped)

if you have VIN with 145...
you have a chassis from 1965 but the body is from a another car, earler year |
mikrobi67,
Can you explain the difference between the ashtray of a 65 and the ashtray of an earlier Ghia? _________________ Marc

Awesome car Peter!
All I can say is: Black is Beautyful!
I love the oldschool look with the sprints on it. I bought a OG set for mine too . What tire sizes are you running? ...especially in the rear?
In my mind its going to be quite difficult to make this car much cooler!

Thanks man. It’s sitting on 135-80-15 and 165-80-15
But I bought new tires. So next season front will be 145-80-15 135 is just to skinny in my opinion. _________________ http://vw-bluehats.blogspot.com/ |

So latest updates
I changed the headlight inserts to Marchal units, I’ve always like the design on those.
Also put in a transmission with 4.12 ring pinion to lower the rpm a bit.
Next project is a vintage speed 1385cc motor that’s in the making.

So Motor is almost ready while the ghia I getting a few touch ups at the painter.
It’s a 40hp with a big bore kit so 1385cc. The carb set is a home made kit made by a good friend of mine back in 1962.

Time for an update. I’ve be taking it out for some smal trips testing the new motor luckily without too many gremlins.
Also fitted new green carpets, dds shifter, empi gauges and more. Outside it got a pair of stainless euro bumpers.

Haha there sure is John, but Think I’m done playing with superchargers, guess it’s almost 20years since I started on the Judson. _________________ http://vw-bluehats.blogspot.com/ |

Fantastic Ghia!
May I ask which outfit you went with for bumpers? They look pretty good. Any struggles with getting them fitted up?
Thanks

Thanks.
Front went on without any problems, rear I had to modify the corners along the fenders by grinding a couple of mm of the upper edge otherwise they would sit right up against the fender. _________________ http://vw-bluehats.blogspot.com/ |

So a lot have happened since the last update.
I have the ghia on the dyno to get it adjusted and the 34hp big bore motor did well 67hp on the motor
Also got the original crone Sprintstars that I bought in the states ready and mounted.
And then I’ve just driven and enjoyed it a lot, so far 3200km this year.

Yes your Big Bore 34hp did well. A lot of people underestimate the usefulness of those extra 190cc. When I got my '58 I knew it had the replacement '65 engine but as soon as I drove it, it was obvious it wasn't a 1200cc and had the Big Bore conversion they way it climbed long hills. _________________ John.

The ride height and stance is just perfect, nice work! That is a beautiful car. My current Ghia that I'm building is one of those bright 60's candy colors, but I think I'll always love the look of a black Ghia the best _________________ Currently own:

I like the dual carb kit. Looks like 28PCI carbs? With the big bore and dual carbs it probably has more umph than a stock 1600. It’s pretty rare to see vintage speed 40hp. Well done! _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Yes it really drives well, in my opinion this pretty much how it should have been from factory. _________________ http://vw-bluehats.blogspot.com/ |
