Any guesses where this is located? I know not much to go on, but I know how good you all are in a quest.

Taxi spec by the looks of it. The rear hatch, the bike rack, the roof vent and the door check strap mounts screwed to the rear corners |
What are the check strap mounts used for? |

Difficult guess. but its a LHD bus. the dealers badge at the dogleg looks a whole lot like a Liewers/Vienna /Austria delivered bus.
They usually put them on the engine lid on Bd buses, but we are talking about an ambulance that does not feature a barndoor size engine lid. On the small engine lid there simply isn't enough space between the brake light and licence plate recess.
For comparison, here is a neat Liewers dealership enamel badge on my bug.
These were color keyed to the cars ( my bug was originally white) and have a very distinctive rectangular shape with rounded corners and tabs for rivets/brass screws.
Not all badges were body color. black bugs could have red badges (with red interior) and white cars could also get contrasting black ones.
the background buildings could very well be in Vienna ( Wien). look at the hinges of the building windows. This style of hinges, where the outer glass wings of the dual windows are hinged on the outside of the frame, is actually called 'Wiener Fenster' here in Austria. Viennese window style. they open to the outside of the building why the inner wings open to the inside. This leaves both outer and inner wings the same size glass and sunlight will not be limited, as with windows with both wings opening inwards (outer wings glass panes are smaller than inners). My own 1941 house still has such original windows.

This one puts our Transporters in the role it should be seen at, by 1954 standard.
The lorry with baskets on top, steam boat and the small cui motorcycles in post war Europe look totally obsolete compared to the BUS. the panel van looks 10 times more modern than all of its ancient surroundings. Like it came from outer space. REAL KOOL !
ps: the rear window looks large by 1954 standards...
