In 2000, James Taylor and Mark Knopfler
recorded a duet together called 'Sailing
to Philadelphia'-
Link
I am Jeremiah Dixon
I am a Geordie boy
A glass of wine with you, sir
And the ladies I'll enjoy
All Durham and Northumberland
Is measured up by my own hand
It was my fate from birth
To make my mark upon the earth
He calls me Charlie Mason
A stargazer am I
It seems that I was born
To chart the evening sky
They'd cut me out for baking bread
But I had other dreams instead
This baker's boy from the west country
Would join the Royal Society
We are sailing to Philadelphia
A world away from the coaly Tyne
Sailing to Philadelphia
To draw the line
A Mason-Dixon Line
Now you're a good surveyor, Dixon
But I swear you'll make me mad
The West will kill us both
You gullible Geordie lad
You talk of liberty
How can America be free
A Geordie and a baker's boy
In the forests of the Iroquois
Now hold your head up, Mason
See America lies there
The morning tide has raised
The capes of Delaware
Come up and feel the sun
A new morning has begun
Another day will make it clear
Why your stars should guide us here
We are sailing to Philadelphia
A world away from the coaly Tyne
Sailing to Philadelphia
To draw the line
A Mason-Dixon Line _________________ CARRY ON

Amazing talent for a street musician. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Merchant kinda sounds like Tracy Chapman-
Carnival from solo album "Tigerlily":
Link
July 1995...
Well, I've walked these streets
A virtual stage, it seemed to me
Makeup on their faces
Actors took their places next to me
Well, I've walked these streets
In a carnival, of sights to see
All the cheap thrill seekers vendors and the dealers
They crowded around me
Have I been blind have I been lost
Inside myself and my own mind
Hypnotized, mesmerized by what my eyes have seen?
Well, I've walked these streets
In a spectacle of wealth and poverty
In the diamond markets the scarlet welcome carpet
That they just rolled out for me
And I've walked these streets
In the madhouse asylum they can be
Where a wild-eyed misfit prophet
On a traffic island stopped and he raved of saving me
Have I been blind, have I been lost
Inside myself and my own mind
Hypnotized, paralyzed by what my eyes have seen
Have I been wrong, have I been wise
To shut my eyes and play along
Hypnotized, mesmerized by what my eyes have found
By what my eyes have seen
What they have seen?
Have I been blind
Have I been lost
Have I been wrong
Have I been wise
Have I been strong
Have I been hypnotized, mesmerized by what my eyes have found
In that great street carnival
In that carnival _________________ CARRY ON

Getting back on track
Insane Clown Posse-
Link
'Boogie Woogie Wu"
'97
"The beast lives out of the raging storm in the dead of night
The ravenous, blood-sick creatures searches for it's sacrifice
Through the hideous darkness, it lurches, driven by death itself
Only the satisfaction of slaughter will cause it to return to
The darkness from which it came"
Boogie woogie woogie woogie wu [2x]
[Violent J]
Boys and girls, it's nighty night time
Happy J the Clown has a nursery rhyme
It's about, The Boogie Woogie Man
Keep your light on as long as you can
Cuz when it cuts off, so does your head
Boogie Woogie Woogie waits under your bed
With a shank, splah!, up through the bottom
Little Jimmy Jimmy, uh, got em
"It's the one and only Boogie Man
He creeps, he hides, he sneaks, he slides
If your little feetsies are hanging off the edge of the bed
You're running on stumps motherfucker!!!"
[Violent J]
Well, moonlight fills the room that you sleep in
Things go bump in the night, me creeping
Ouch! Fuck! I stubbed my toe
If you'd just quit leaving your shit all over the fucking floor
Fuck it, you're dead anyway
And I'm gonna leave your head smack dead in the hallway
In the morning, when your daddy walks out
AAAAHHH!!! His foots in your mouth, thanks to the Boogie Man
[Chorus (1x)]
Boogie woogie woogie woogie wu (here comes the boogie man)
Boogie woogie woogie woogie wu (haha haha haha haha)
Boogie woogie woogie woogie wu (make way for the boogie man)
Boogie woogie woogie woogie wu (mom! dad! aha! haha!)
[Violent J]
"Does the Boogie Man really exist?"
Well, is your mother a bald-headed freak bitch? yes
You fall asleep and you wake up dead
With a broken broom sticking out your forehead
I sing lullabies till you dose off
Tie you down and chew your fuckin toes off
And then spit em out back in your face
Splat! Fuck, wash your feet bitch!
"The world's famous Boogie Woogie Wu will come to you
Slumber parties, sleepovers, intimate nights
Whatever the occasion for the midnight hour
He will gladly come and fuck that shit up"
[Violent J]
I don't beat woman, fuck that, I'm above it (no no)
But I'll cut her fucking neck and think nothing of it
"I bet you didn't know the Boogie Man was a clown
But when you see the juggla, your holding your jugular"
With a swing, chop, stab, swing, chop
You're holding your neck together, but your nuts drop
And the cops do the best they can
They pull the axe out your face and say
"Was it the Boogie Man?"
"What was he wearing?"
[Chorus (1x)]
"Please don't let me fall asleep
Cuz the Boogie Man will creep
Through my window in my room
Stab me with a broken broom
Please don't let me fall asleep
Cuz the Boogie Man will creep
Through my window in my room
Stahhh... Boogie Woogie Woogie!"
"It's the incredible, undeadable Boogie Man
Go ahead, pull the covers over your head
Hide under them, he don't give a fuck
It'll just make it that much more easier
For him to suffocate your face!"
[Violent J]
There's three ways to stop me from doing what I do
What? you think I'm a tell you
"Mom, can you leave the door open a bit?"
Thanks, an easy way in, you fucking idiot
Now I stretch your neck out and play it like a banjo
Boomchicka boomchicka like that shit, yo?
Then I stretch it out more and fling your head through the wall
It's the Boogie Man y'all
[Chorus (1x)] _________________ CARRY ON

I don't usually visit the dark corners of TS, as I'm usually shopping in the $yncro department lately, but it is great to come here to see another Knopfler fan! Not many of us out there, but he is hands down without question MY favorite guitarist for the last couple decades. Incredible talent, and the most humble musician I can think of in the moment. I've had the pleasure to attend a few of his concerts.
Mark being who he is: 3:25. 3:58- Respect.

As for albums, as the thread suggests, I choose "On every street" by Dire Straights as my "music you'd bring to a deserted island" pick. This album "compact Disc" as we used to call them in my hey-day (not that old) I bought as a teenager (now 40's), inspired by my fathers generation of music at a used album flea market shop.
The very same orange CD I bought in the 90's has a regular seat in my #1 position of my Bob Carver audio CD player>Harmon Kardon pre-amp>Bob Carver TFM35X power amp>Polk audio Signature series speakers>My audiophile ears>Brain>WOW.

"Someday?"
Say it's been too hard
Say it's been too long
You say it's all too much
The thrill has long been gone
Well I thought you could
Yes I thought you could
And you thought you could too
But it's a place and time
Where the years behind are piled up high
But never mind
It's time to crash and burn or fly
And I thought you could
You know I thought you could
You know I thought you could too
Go to sleep now
Go on dream away
Isn't easy, is it babe?
And I hope
And I dream
And I pray
That sometime
We'll find a way
Some say easy come
Some say easy go
Some say time flies by too fast
Some say it drags on all too slow
Well I thought you could
You know I thought you could
And I thought I could too
But, if you never find
The heart to start all over again
Remember I was one
Who tried to be a friend to you... I
Well, I know I tried
Yes, you know I tried
And I know you tried too
Go to sleep, now
Go on dream away
Is it easy, is it babe?
And, I hope
And, I dream
And, I pray
That sometime
We'll find a way
Go to sleep, now
(Go to sleep, now)
Go on dream away
(Go on dream away)
Is it easy, is it babe?
(Is it easy, is it babe?)
And, I hope
And, I dream
And, I pray
