I purchased a Pertronix electronic ignition however, I noticed that it would not fully seat at the bottom due to the black tab that's in the image below.

I ended up looking up a different style of Pertronix electric ignition and came across one that has a moon shape to it. Would this be the correct one for my distributor? I'm almost certain I've purchased the wrong one but would like to make sure first.

Yes you want the moon shaped one.
$115.00 may seem like a lot. I paid $79.00 for mine but that was in 1991.
Still works great. Make sure it’s a Pertronix I. Those work with a stock coil and plug wires. The II and III require a different coil and plug wires.

You bought one for a mechanical only distributor.... yours has mechanical and vacuum advance.

It's the wrong part.

Yes! I inherited a bug with a BRAND NEW Pertronix and it was junk. Go back to points!

Thankfully we have choices so whichever you choose that is right for you. It may sound as though I’ve disparaged pertronix, I’m sorry.

For what it's worth my Pertronix is 21 years old. Never had a problem with it. I also have hydraulic lifters. Makes owning one of these cars much more pleasant along with the 4 wheel discs.
