Hey everyone. I’ve done some searches and don’t see much Zetec info. Subaru is very well documented. I’ve had my bus for 10 plus years now. It runs fine, but I know down the road I’m not interested in rebuilding the type 4. I’m finally in a position to devote some time and money into my bus. Zetec’s are well documented in the vanagon forum. Are there any buses running around with Zetec motors. Is there and issue with figment? Too tall or maybe not enough clearance by the firewall. |

Been here? https://www.bostig.com/
They do Vanagon kits so you would need to sort out some things. |

from their FAQ :
I HAVE AN AIR COOLED OR DIESEL VANAGON, CAN I STILL DO THE CONVERSION?
While it's possible and people have done both, I don't recommend it. It's the same amount of work as the conversion itself, and without all the help/docs. You need the watercooled trans for both, and other parts as well... it's just extra hassle that is best avoided unless you simply can't part with the van. But you'll need to find outside help for that portion of the install, as I don't support it. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/jim_martin_engine_build.php

Thank you. Yes. I’ve been through the Bostig site. I actually registered on the site and read all the documentation and watch all the videos. It’s a very nice option for the vanagon owners. I like being able to source the motor and ECU without having to find a donor car. Bostig provides the wiring harness. I was hoping there was a bay window or two with a Zetec. _________________ 1976 Westy with stock fuel injection. |
