I have switched from using cat litter in my oil drip tray to Pig mat, for that very reason. _________________ Andy

Cat crap is bad but the only thing that smells worse than cat piss is more cat piss. My dad stored his 30 model A with moth balls every winter for the entirety of my childhood and young adult life and it seemed to work. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

I’ve tried this but lose so much time sorting out the male from female moths. _________________ 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🍊 🍊 🍊 |

I was thinking "Antifreeze! Brilliant!" then I realized it would not only eliminate the cat but also the snakes.

This is an aircooled site, I have no use for it. _________________ Glenn

Their sense of smell is quite sensitive, so anything with a really strong aroma should be overpowering enough to discourage them from hanging around. Mothballs would no doubt work, but depending on where you place them, the aroma could get pretty embedded in the soft and porous materials (ie carpet, upholstery, etc.) and could make for an unpleasant driving experience for a good while. Stuffing steel wool in any gaps that are not likely to get wet can work well too. I don't think I'd use anything toxic. The last thing you want is for them to get sick and crawl into an inaccessible cavity to spend their final hours. You can keep setting and checking traps, but doing that all winter is a long, cold commitment. _________________ Tom

Rat bait stations seem to work well.
Many antifreezes now days have bitterment added to them, it is ordered by law in many places. this turns the sweet tasting Ethylene Glycol into a bitter taste, so unfortunatly vermin avoid it. It is no longer useful for vermin control. However reagent grade Ethylene Glycol can be bought from a chemistry supply store that is free of the bitterment additive. But for rats and mice, I find the bait station very useful.
