This Rag Top is the car I was thinking about when I posted. A before and after shot. All it really needed was a Professionals Detailer to work his magic on it.

Thanks Bill and Wiggy for your contributions; both good
I think Bill’s comments ring true for a lot of us - good original cars that were lost as enlightenment hadn’t reached us yet, or a repaint was just what you did to make everything neat, uniform and shiny again.
There are, of course, some people still doing this now. _________________ -StockRocks- |

There's some real tragedies in this thread but I sure like the looks of your restored vert. Sweet car. _________________ My Beetles :

What a tragedy. That 15 would have looked so great with paint blended.
You can't fix stupid _________________

I like this thread, I have had many OG paint VWs over the past 50 years. . Many of them were repainted and that was usually just before they were sold, it took me many years and many very nice OG paint cars to finally figure out why they lost their charm after a repaint. |

cocaine is a hell of a drug. Seriously, this is a tragedy.
The patina on this bus WAS on point. Obviously, this person doesn't understand first paint and the appeal. _________________

Yes, after following the build, it was like an automotive bereavement.
So unique - and on a model like that. _________________ -StockRocks- |

No, no, no. With all respect, you’re missing the point.
