I see pics and a great write up for sender wires on DC tanks, but can’t find a clear answer on my 65 s/c.

The replacement metal has no hole drilled for the wire, and there is no obvious place to run the wire through or over the replacement crossmember. Did s/c wires run by the outlet opening as well, or did they go through the engine bay firewall? There is a hole in mine, but I doubt it’s factory…

If VW really did just smoosh the wire between top hat and underside of floor, I can do that... it just seems really tight. Maybe tight is good to hold wire in place?

I have no problem drilling holes… just want them in the right place
