I knew a guy who painted his car with cans of spray paint. Took about 30 cans, and the car looked surprisingly good. Of course, the guy had spent considerable time prepping the car, which is most of the cost of a quality paint job.

I have been spraying my THING for years...it only takes 12 cans but since mine is an Acapulco no hood to paint and the blue stripes under the door and the tail light

The only place you should use spray cans is on your armpits. Anything that comes in a spray can takes years to harden. It's not durable.

Plan on throwing $100 bills at your paint job. I haven't painted anything in a while but when I did...

Figure $300 for agallon of quality acrylic enamel.

Double that for a gallon of red.

Let's say $70- $80 for a gallon of reducer.

Figure $80 for hardener.

In short you're getting off easy for $500 worth of materials. That's for a simple single stage paint job.

It's not really about paint. It's about preparation. A perfect surface yields a perfect paint job.

I can't believe how many people think paint will hide rust, bondo and sanding scratches.

Hint: Paint it white if you have something to hide.
