It`s possibility on your 63---Also the interior and windows could have been swapped out of another bus--your 63 had upper vents  Remember a lot can happen in 40 years
The Riviera were created to move stock that was not selling on the lot and to help fill the void that was created by the fact of not being able to get enough Westy`s ----But I would bet that a few previously sold VW Buses found their way back to ASI |

Geez, I never thought about that...plus it had jalousie style windows (even on the picture window) instead of sliders.

Yes. I helped him assemble much of the information for early Rivieras.

Personally, I don't think so. I think many people see what the Westies are fetching and figure any old camper could get that much.

NorCal, i think this is a great bus and incredibly original. I think thats the key. People will pay more for a genuine survivor regardless of whether its a westy, riviera, kombi, panel, etc. I bet this seller is basing his figures on its condition and rarity as survivor as much as the fact its a riviera.
I dont think hes way off on the price but id say its a bit high, especially considering it needs brakes.
It says price reduced...Anyone know where the price started?

Wow, that's a nice Riviera. I hope it does sell for close to that. Respect for Rivieras is way overdue and hopefully that will be reflected in the purchase price.
Looks like the wires to the interior light are hanging down from looking at one of the interior pics.
Kombisutra, still thinking about Shasta.

| I saw that 67 Riv in the classified section, too. It is very comparable to mine as far as condition and what it needs. My brakes work though and I have a bigger motor. I would say the price is high by a few grand anyway. If it were cleaned up and all the little things made right, it would maybe fetch the asking price. A nice bus for sure. |

| It`s complete Riviera---Most of the one`s for sale are missing a lot of the original fitting ---Try finding a Riviera spice rack, wall lamp or ice box for one --you very seldom find them--a Brake job is easy and all the parts are availible can be done in a week-end ---- It doesn`t need alot of body work--rust repair --engine or transmission. If some-one did some serious DETAILING on that bus ---wheels,hubcaps, front seat cover, paint bumpers , a little paint blending, detail engine, install a radio or block-off and new tile flooring ---All easy fixes-and not that expensive-- it would be a very nice bus---and could be worth it or pretty close |

I think that is even nicer than mine and I thought my 66' was the find of the decade. Nicely preserved. I hope he gets what he is asking for it too. I would do anything for that spice rack.

I don't think so either. Maybe if the brakes were fixed etc. I think people asssume if it needs brakes, it will need lots of other things too.
I did see a VERY nice, low milage velvet green Riviera for sale at a show a few years ago... he wanted $13,500 for it.  Since this was a few years ago when the prices of buses were lower, that was a BIG price for a camper, but it was in very nice condition, looked like it had been garaged all its life. No fade on the paint, no rust, no dents.
It did have the heavy duty air cleaner on it. I've noticed that on a few of these Rivis, MUCH more that usual. Must be cause the dealers were thinking of dirt road camping

Can anyone confirm that Rivieras came with the heavy duty aircleaner as a standard item? Is there an m-code for it? Maybe it was part of the panel m-116 package? No upper vents, dirty conditions intended maybe? Can I ask more questions?
