Holy guacamole, Batman! Er, Ashman! You may have hit on something! I removed the plug over 5 years ago when I was finishing the build, but I left the harness wires wrapped behind the fan shroud, thinking someday I may have a use for them. At the time, I wrapped each end w/electrical tape, but w/the years and miles, it looks like some of the ends are now exposed - including at least the matching black/green stripe wire!!!
Tomorrow I'll clip the connectors from each wire and dip the ends in liquid electrical tape, reassemble my dash and poke the bear again. _________________ "Men are qualified for civil liberty in exact proportion to their disposition

Ashman, you have a great eye!!! IT *MIGHT* BE FIXED!
Lest I forget, I took a picture of the bloody mess I had w/the dashboard tracing wires and grounds. I reassembled everything after this picture.
Then I went around back, cut the ends of of the diagnostic block wires, dipped them in liquid electrical tape, let them dry then zip-tied them the f*#k outta the way.
Then I went on a 20-mile city-highway cruise, over hills, speed bumps, many right turns and lane changes, w/the parking and HLs on the whole time....
NOT A SINGLE FAILURE OF THE TURN SIGNALS!!
Thank the samba gods! IF THIS HOLDS (you'll forgive my unchecked pessimism), I can move on to finishing the re-rebuild of my '74's motor and replacing its gas tank.
I know turn signals and parking circuit, and testing light and e-switches better than I ever wanted to. I probably have the cleanest rear and front light assemblies of any car on the samba (well, of any daily driver perhaps). In the process I managed to break and fix my factory wiper switch, fixed the radio's ground, replaced suspect parking bulbs...cursed a ton. Wow, man am I having a beer or two tonight. Or maybe Rum 'n' Cokes, yeah...! _________________ "Men are qualified for civil liberty in exact proportion to their disposition
