what is the best heavy duty cleaner for vinyl seats? i've gone over a seat almost 10 times with simple green, diluted and full strength, and am getting nearly nowhere. afraid if i step up to bleach products i'll be heading down a dangerous path. would bleach eat it the original material? _________________ When you cross an Irishman, they never forget. Bleach wouldn't necessarily eat it, but it'll stain it.
I've had good luck with diluted purple power on some vinyl furniture. But TEST IT! Find a hidden spot and see if it removes the shine or anything. That stuff is pretty brutal. _________________ No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. |

Instead of starting a new thread, I though I might resurrect this one.
I recently found a bus that I scored a perfect set of westy mustard vinyl seat cushions out of. My seats are a bit torn and I thought I could explore reupholstering the camper seats/bed in my bus with the donor vinyl.
Only problem is that they were covered by about 20 years of rat crap. So the plan is to throw the donor foam out and try to get the donor vinyl back to non rat poo smelling condition. I’ve tried pet carpet deodorizer with no luck.
Can I submerge the vinyl in a big tub of cleaning solution of some kind. Any suggestions? I only get one shot at this, so previous experience would be helpful.
Thanks for the advice.
p.s. Can anyone recommend a upholsterer in the Massachusetts area? |

If you use a brush, even like a fingernail brush, along with whatever cleaner, I bet it would help. You really gotta get down into the texture of the vinyl and a brush is where it's at for that. Undiluted simple green is some strong stuff! |

I would be careful with Purple Stuff and make sure to dilute it as suggested. It can dull the vinyl permanently. _________________ My Bus Restoration Blog

I recently tried the Armor All cleaning wipes on my recently acquired old Saab. I was impressed with how well they worked. _________________ No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. |
